Peace Seekers

“Make every effort to live in peace with everyone and to be holy; without holiness no one will see the Lord.” Hebrews 12:14

Armed with a video camera and an angry agenda, a chief financial officer in Arizona drove to a Chick-Fil-A drive thru and bullied the employee with questions of why she would work for this establishment. Instead of screaming back at the man, the drive-thru window worker kindly told the man that she loved working at the company and treated him courteously, despite his anger. The video became viral (over 1 million views) and the man actually lost his job. THe clerk was later interviewed and stated that “I hope the world forgives him like I do”.

This clerk sought out peace in a difficult circumstance. How many of us choose to fight with people at home, school, work, and out in the public. The Bible says to “Let our lights shine”. This clerk certainly did that with her decision to treat “all customers the same”, even the mean ones. We can learn a lot by this woman’s reaction and choose to speak kindly even when we are bullied. The bullied are not the weak ones. The bullies are the weak. When they bully us, remember that they are actually reflecting what is inside of them not what is inside of us.

Choose this week to seek out peace, even in difficult circumstances. God will bless the meek and kind in spirit.

1.) Have you bullied anyone this week?

2.) How did you respond when you were last criticized or bullied?

3.) Who in your life are you not at peace with? Go fix it immediately!
