Random Acts of Kindness (RAOK)

Phillipians 2:3 “Do nothing from rivalry or conceit, but in humility count others more significant than yourselves.”

Our wallets may not be loaded with cash this Christmas season, but there are gifts we can give others that have no price tag. There are people God places in our lives that just need us to listen. We don’t even have to reply. So many people want to be heard, but our silenced by us interjecting our own opinions. Listening is a random act of kindness. Letting others go ahead of us in line or backing out of a parking spot or pulling onto a roadway is another example of showcasing Christ and cost us nothing but our time.

So many people are placed strategically in our lives at our hair salon, nail salon, school, line at Wal-Mart, co-workers, and neighbors. Are we a witness for Christ to those people or are we too “self-absorbed” to notice the world around us. We are oblivious to the needs of those of others especially during the Christmas season as we are saturated with the task of purchasing gifts. How can we ignore the obvious need of others? Extending grace is free. Forgiving others is free. Being patient is free. This Christmas, let us look for the needs of those God places directly in front of us and become witnesses for what the true message of Christmas is really all about.

1.) What is one Random Act of Kindness I can do for those around me?

2.) Am I self-absorbed?

3.) What is the best gift I can give Jesus this season?
