“Yet God has made everything beautiful for its own time. He has planted eternity in the human heart, but even so, people cannot see the whole scope of God’s work from beginning to end.” Ecclesiastes 3:11
Did you know that if you were to live until you were 70 years old, that you would live 25,550 days? That may seem like a lot of days, but what happens after those days are over? Were we created to live only 25,550 days and then never be heard of again? Or did our designer have a much greater purpose in mind?
The Bible calls our earthly bodies a “tent”, but refers to our future body as a “house”. “When this tent we live in – our body here on earth- is torn down, God will have a house in heaven for us to live in, a home He Himself has made, which will last forever.” (2 Corinthians 5:1)
We were not made to just last 70 years. We were made to last forever. That is how our Creator designed us. We have a future and a hope in Christ that even death cannot separate us from God if we have believed and accepted Christ as our Savior. God designed us with a desire to live. Not only that, He gave us this earth as a “dress rehearsal” for the life to come.
Our purpose on earth is to prepare for the life we will live with Christ. Our future in Heaven does not include laying around on clouds playing harps all day. Instead, we will have an assigned job to do. Our jobs on earth are not to be leechers (taking from others). We are to be seeders (where we plant seeds of Christ in the hearts of all we meet). This is our calling. Never lose focus of your true purpose on earth. When we get to the place that we see that our every day life is a preparation for our future, we will have a new lens that we can view the world in a wonderful and new way.
