The Garden and the Broken Rule

“And Jehovah God commanded the man, saying, Of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat: but of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die.” Genesis 2:16-17

On the third day of Creation, God created trees, grass, and plants. Three days later, God created Adam and Eve and gave them a beautiful home with a beautiful view. Adam and Eve had more real estate than any other person that has ever lived. Their home was called “The Garden of Eden”. This place was God’s perfect vacation destination and no other humans would ever see this garden except Adam and Eve. They were two very special people.

In this perfect garden, there was no rain. Instead, each day, God would send a mist and springs to automatically water the garden. What is interesting is God gave Adam a job (i.e. work). and that was to name the animals and also take over the garden. Adam was co-CEO of this garden. Like many prominent men and women behind him, Adam was heading for a fall. A snake and a woman, Eve, were part of the garden conspiracy. Satan, the world’s most evil villain used a slithering technique to change the world. He tempted Adam and Eve to break God’s only rule to not eat of the “tree of knowledge of good and evil”.

Once Adam and Eve ate this forbidden fruit, consequences took over. The mist would no longer water the plants. Instead, Adam would have to work in the heat to make a meal. Animals were then sacrificed to make clothing for Adam and Eve. Weeds began to sprout, as prior to sin, weeds did not exist. Adam and Eve lost their home forever and were banished from their beautiful sanctuary. An angel stood at the gate of the Garden of Eden allowing no access to any humans. The world would never be the same. Adam and Eve’s VIP garden pass was forever denied. Sin has a world of consequences. May we think before every action, and ask God to help us steer clear of Satan’s slithering tactics.

1.) Name one sin I committed this week and one consequence?
