My life, Has led me down the road that’s so uncertain And now I am left alone and I am broken, Trying to find my way, Trying to find the faith that’s gone This time, I know that you are holding all the answers I’m tired of losing hope and taking chances, On roads that never seem, To be the ones that bring me home. (Revelation by Third Day)
Isn’t it great that we don’t have all the answers, but we are the beloved children of the God who does? So as we choose our winding roads that guide us through intense loneliness, bitter failure, overworked husbands, caught-in-a-rut wives, self-absorbed neighbors, and clueless friends, we have to have a faith that God will reveal to us His plan for our lives. We need to be willing to completely “sell out” for Christ. Dare to tell Christ, my life is yours. Lead me down the path you want for me.
As children, you too have paths you can choose. God loves the hearts of little children and he watches as they grow and decide to make wrong or right choices. When I was a little girl, I looked at another kid’s test paper and copied their answer of what a penny was worth. My teacher saw me cheat. I not only got a spanking at school, but I got one at home as well. I knew better than to copy someone else’s answer, but I made the wrong choice. I was taught the consequences of cheating at an early age, and I never cheated on any test again.
God gives us many paths and many choices as adults and children. Psalms 119:105 says “Thy Word is a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path”. This means that we are not alone in this world. We are given the power to say NO to wrong choices and temptations. We have God’s Word that he gave specifically to his children to guide us through life’s challenges.
Saul who killed Christians for a living turned into Paul, the famous preacher, on a blinding path in Damascus. So many lives have been changed on winding paths, that at the time, do not tend to make sense. We will never have all the answers, but we do have a God who holds them all. May we love Him intently and trust His plans for us without reservation.
