War Room hit movie theaters August 28th, but more importantly it hit hearts all over the nation. Despite receiving negative reviews from critics, it soared to #2 at the box office and 61 salvations have been reported so far. No price can be put on that.
War Room is a faith based movie that focuses on prayer. It is about a failing marriage with lots of fighting, only too common in many of today’s marriages. However, one elderly woman introduces her realtor to her War Room, the room where she goes to battle every day – her prayer strategy. She explained that in marriage, you are not fighting your spouse, you are really fighting the devil. Satan is the true problem. Satan works very hard every day to destroy marriage and families. We need to stop fighting each other and start fighting with prayer.
A small closet was this war room. Her strategy for battle against Satan where photos and Bible verses hung on the wall. Every battle is won with a strategy and many times we fight daily without one. We rarely pray. We define our relationship with God as lukewarm. When we drink coffee, we like it hot or cold. If its lukewarm, we spit it out. Yet many of our relationships with God can be defined as just this – lukewarm. We give him an hour at church and a Bible verse during the week, but our hearts are so cold.
Our marriages our weak and we do not pray enough for our spouses. We fight and fight, yet forget to pray. We need to begin to pray ernestly for our spouse and children. We need to speak the Word of God over our sweet children and ask God to grab ahold of their hearts and use them. We need to look for opportunities to share our faith with others and all the lessons we have learned along the way.
The Bible verse Matthew 6:6 is what spurred the War Room “But when you pray, go into your room, close the door and pray to your Father, who is unseen. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you.”
